Can anyone tell me where to find 'Silver Threads and Golden Needles' or
'If Teardrops were Pennies and Heartaches were Gold'? I think they
were by Hank Williams, but I can't find them on any albums. Maybe
someone else sang them? I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks

CJ

"Silver Threads" was a hit for the Springfields in 62, for Linda
Ronstadt in 74, and for Charlie McCoy in 74. The Ronstadt version
ought to be available on any number of her Greatest Hits albums.

"Teardrops" was a hit for Carl Smith in 51 and for Dolly & Porter in
73.

Silver Threads was a hit for Norma Jean, Porter's "girl singer" before
Dolly. You can hear her do it a live album (early 60's) called The Porter
Wagoneer Show. Who were The Springfields?

No, it wasn't. At least it isn't not listed in Joel Whitburn's book
of Top Country Singles, which lists anything that ever made the top
100 in Billboard. So maybe it was a #101 "hit" for her.
And according to Whitburn, the Springfields were an English folk trio
composed of Dusty, her brother Tom Springfield, and Tom Feild. Their
only showing on the country charts was "Silver Threads," which got as
high as #10 for them in 1962.

The Springfields were a British group that had a hit with Silver Threads on
the pop charts in the mid-60's.
