In the book, Phillips Collection Vol. 2, there is a great waltz called
Bob Taylors March. I've wondered who Bob Taylor was, and today stumbled
on this info. http://www.facstaff.bucknell.edu/rtaylor/govbob.html

I think there's a book about the Taylors, which I haven't read yet,
but Bob (Dem.) and Alf (Rep.) Taylor both ran for governor of Tennessee.
Bob was a fiddler and played a tune called "Streaking Old Fiddler,"
which became known as "Bob Taylor's March." Bob and Alf traveled together
while campaigning and even shared a bed sometimes. Bob beat Alf, but Alf
later was governor, too. Most of the above, I learned from Charlie Acuff.

Hi all,
Yes, that's Robert Taylor's website (he's a grand nephew of fiddlin'
bob Taylor). A fine fiddler himself, he has a book about the family
called Filddle and Bow, and his band (Back Up and Push) has a web site
at http://www.facstaff.bucknell.edu/rtaylor/buphome2.html.

Ah, Screakin' Old Fiddle. I like that. I didn't think that streaking
was popular back in the goodle days. When I was about 22, I went to
visit my folks at Christmas time. About 1971 My mom told me about a
party her and my dad went to the night before. Seems my mom and her
best friend Kay streaked the party. I've never been able to get that
image out of my head.
