the University of Chicago is hosting its annual folk festival this
coming weekend (Feb. 10-12). The festival consists of evening concerts
on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as free workshops and dances
during the day on Saturday and Sunday. It should be a big time. Bruce
Greene & Loy McWhirter will be coming up from North Carolina to share
their wonderful repetoire of ballads and fiddle tunes, and Nancy &
Richard Sluys, Richard Bowman and Chester McMillian will be providing
some fine Round Peak stringband music. Mississippi bluesman Robert
Belfour will also be performing, as will the cajun band the Pine Leaf
Boys, among others. More information can be found at
http://uofcfolk.org/. If you're in the area please plan on coming by
for some of the festivities.

Please convey my greetings to Cedric Watson, whom I met and greatly
enjoyed this past October at the Florida State Fiddlers Assn. annual
convention. He is everything that his publicity says, and more.
