Has this sort of thing been happening more frequently lately (usually it's
an audience member who happens to be a professional opera singer and
happens to know the role), or is it that it happens all the time and we're
just seeing it reported more reliably, or am I just crazy?

We all know the answer to the third item, but what about the other two?

Let me know when they announce the production of "The Nose."

So it's Ye End for Yeend. She's in the Stoky/NYP Mahler 8th, as well as
the First Part that exists from Ormandy's performance at the Hollywood
Bowl, and Reiner's recorded "Elektra" excerpts. I know she was a Met
stalwart, but those are all the recordings of her that I have.
