~ If anyone knows where I might find the British composer Thomas Addis,
~ please let me know.
His name is Thomas Ades, with an acute accent over the 'e'.
What exactly do you mean by 'find' him ?

He is very much flavour of the year. Cannot remember his coordinates
at present, but getting the name right (assuming I am right -- and I
have not heard of an Addis) might help. He is assocoaied with teh
Composers Ensemble, and may be contactable via Wooldrich

You may be interested to know that his name is Ades, and he is well
supported by the British Music Information Centre in London, and is
published by Faber music. I'm not sure if he has any CDs out. I have a
cassette of Powder Her Face, an opera from last year.

There's a CD due out at some point, by the Brunel Ensemble. I've added
rmcc to the Newsgroups: line, as one of my mates (who is on it) plugged
it there a few days ago...

Sorry simon, Tom Ades piece, the Chamber Symphony is not on the CD. HOwever a
piece by Elisabeth Lutyens, is. I may have said that before. However, the Brunel
Ensemble will be performing the Chamber Symphony this season either in Bristol
or London so if you want to hear me massacre the trombone part please come along
I found it the hardest trombone part I have ever played and I spoke to him after
we performed it in Bristol last APril. I asked him never to write parts like
that again. He was very good humored about it and said that a piece he wrote for
COvent Garden left the trombone player in tears! He said I played it alright and
that other players usually put it down an 8ve or leave stuff out altogether.
