Léon Orthel was born 4 october 1905 in Roosendaal and died 6 september 1985 in
den Haag. He has an entry in the "het honderd (Dutch) Componistenboek"
studied at 16 With Johan Wagenaar composition at Den Haags Royal Conservatorium
studied piano with Evert van Beinum. Studied also in Berlin. Gave lessons
composition at the Amsterdam Conservatorium (1949-1971) and was president of
the KNTV (1947-197)
"famous" works: Concertina alla Burla (with pianosolo); piccola Sinfonia (2e);
inspired by children songs.... etc. experimented atonal but composed mostly
romantical
