VINYL ANACHRONIST
What's on your platter?, by Marc Phillips
"Unlike record clamps and weights mats are a little trickier because there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Sometimes, the stock mat is preferred. Sometimes, it depends on the platter material and how it interacts with the mat--if it isn't a tight, flat fit, the air spaces underneath can create additional resonances that can gum up the sound. Sometimes, and this has applied to my turntables more often than not, the best answer is no mat at all."
We're always looking for good writers and/or ideas so let us know if you have anything to share.
See you online,
Jason
