Bryan Magee in his Aspects of Wagner has a discussion of the variation in
time between different conductors. He says that the longest Meistersing
prelude he has come across is 10'30" and the shortest he knows of is the
8' 30" that Wagner himself took. I have Kubelik at 8' 50" and Sinopoli at
an amazingly slow (and sluggish) 10' 50". I'd be interested to know of
other timings out there, especially of conductors who get close to
Wagner's own speed.
