A recent story in the New York Times referenced that Most organists
are, for some unknown reason, gay. This was much talked about on the
piporg-l mailing list.

I am gay and come to think of it most organists I know are. Anyone
know of any studies about this>?

Pointless speculation. It may not do anyone any harm, but it certainly
isn't going to do any good.

I have only ever known one gay organist, a wonderful man named Anthony
King. Sadly, he died of AIDS several years ago.

As for the connection between homosexuality and a choice of a musical
instrument, I know of no studies. Perhaps there is a relationship between
the name of the instrument... sorry, I couldn't resist.

Gay organists !!! WTF !!!! Organs are placed in churches, the holiest of
churches dammit. What the hell are gay organists doing touching the
instrument of God ! It's sacrilege if there ever was one ! When I get
married I would never have a gay organist playing in the church .
Sheesh ! This sucks !!!!!

Well then, when you get married, you'll have to make sure the organist
passes the Test, won't you? I hope your bride is willing....

At this point, I wonder if you're trolling....

You got me. I've finally realized that you are not a spoiled brat but a
mischievous imp who loves to troll and waste other people's time so he
won;'t feel guilty about not doing his homework.

The late Paul Riedo (of Dallas) was for a decade the director of the
Dallas Bach Society, organist of St. Thomas Church in Dallas, and an
organist of phenomenal abilities. He was also gay and died of AIDS about
two years ago. There are a few recordings in which he is heard playing the
organ of St. Thomas and also the Lay Family Organ in the Morton H.
Meyerson Symphony Center, of which he was the first curator. His death was
a very great loss to music lovers in this area. --E.A.C.

Patsy: I tried not drinking once. I heard myself talking all night and
then, worse than that, next day I had total recall. It was terrifying.

Ah yes! Mr Kuang is on fine form again. And the oscarfor the most intolerant,
least likeable, and by the sound of it, most unhappy person on the web goes to...

If we ask you nicely, will you go and annoy someone else? :-)

I change my plea. Gay organists are perfectly okay. Who is to say whether God
is gay or not ? This is not a flame. I repeat: this is not a flame.

If God didn't want his Instrument touched he should keep it out of harm's
(and gay Organists') way. Perhaps he likes it.

I hope, he is only joking. Otherwise it would be worth to think, if it's not
a sacrilege to declare a simple instrument as holy...

I hate to say it, but I was taught the organ in Yorkshire by three
teachers (Yorkshire is not San Fransisco) and they were all woofters.
Maybe its a word-association adolescent thing: I can't play with that one
, so I;'ll play wityh thisone, and all those knobs to adjust, pull out,
stick in...
