Following are: ancient Latin hymn, English translation, and two
alternative English texts. These are your standard quality English
alternatives for foreign song texts. My strong advice--always stick with
the original. You can always provide your listeners with a translation
in a program or spoken before the song is sung.
For a proper musical setting, look for the Mass in A containing the
Sanctus, Panis Angelicus and Agnus Dei. The song as a solo is widely
available in watered-down arrangements that lose the effect of the
original score: Verse 1-solo (treble preferably), verse 2-solo in canon
with 3-part treble choir. Perhaps someone could recommend a recording.
