Can't remember exactly, since it is some years since I saw the movie. But
I seem to remember that it goes: Non nobis, domine, non nobis sed nomini
tuo da gloriam. Which is the Vulgate translation (that is, the
translation into Latin) of Psalm 115:1, where this Psalm is counted
according to most modern translations. In the Vulgate it is 113:9. so see
whether this works for you.

I've just watched Keneth Brahagh's Henry the fifth. The music is by
Patrick Doyle, who also wrote the music for Branagh's Much Ado About
Nothing. The theme tune to Henry V is a Non Dobis Domine. I really
love it, and have transcribed the music, but I can't make out what the
actual words are. The only thing I can get is "Non nobis, Domine, sed
nomine ... " If anybody knows the rest, please tell me

PS are there any recordings of Doyle's works? I loved Hey Nonny from
Much ADo and the theme from the opera in Dead Again. If there are
recordings, please tell me where to get it.

There is a soundtrack available for Branagh's film of "Henry V".... with
Simon Rattle conducting. I happened to see it yesterday at my local Media
Play, but didn't pay much attention... I think the label was EMI. It did
have Non Nobis Domine on it, as well as all of the other Patrick Doyle
music from the film. Hope this is enough to go on... if not, shoot me an
e-mail and I will write the catalogue number down the next time I am back
there (I am an all-too-frequent patron :-> ) and send the info to you.

If my high school Latin is not completely dead, that means

Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory.

Doyle did music for several Branagh productions (much as Michael Nyman was
associated with Peter Greenaway, Danny Elfman with Tim Burton, and Eric
Serra with Luc Besson), all of which are available on CD:

Henry V (EMI records)
Dead Again (Varese Sarabande)
Frankenstein
Much Ado About Nothing

He also also done music for the following movies:

A Little Princess
Sense and Sensibility

Finally, there is also a 2 CD benefit disc organized by (I believe) Prince
Charles which features a Henry V "suite" with music taken from the score
along with Branagh narrating lines from the play and Doyle (not his
father) singing the Non Nobis Domine. Not really noteworthy, IMO, but it's
out there.

I find Dead Again and A Little Princess to be his strongest showings and
feel that Doyle works best in a minor mode, prevalent in both theses
scores - hus sunny, major compositions can be somewhat hackneyed. Much Ado
is the weakest of the lot - haven't heard Sense and Sensibility outside
the theatre, but liked what I heard.

Dead Again may be the only hard one to find - not sure if it's in print
still or not.

Hope this info helps.
