First, a shout out to John Berky for making the Rosbaud Bruckner set from SWR available for cheaper than anyone. At the time I ordered it, the price spread was $30, but now he has the edge by only a few dollars. Still the best price going.

As the discography shows, there is only one Rosbaud Bruckner 7. For a long time, Vox was the best source of this performance until ZYX put out an ultra-cheap set that clearly got us even closer to the master tapes. Both Vox and ZYX are real stereo. So what explains that the recording in the new SWR box is mono? All credit to their good intentions and other fine releases in this Rosbaud series, but if it was recorded in stereo, what gives?

Can't answer your question but I'm eagerly awaiting that set from Presto who
said there would be a delay from UK distributor. Amazon.uk lists an end of the month release and amazon.de says its in stock. So far away for me, it seems. I have an Andromeda release with 2-5-7-8 and all those are mono. I hope the sound will be better in the new set.

Well, here's a bonus. Berky has the 7 I'm talking about as a download. I had no idea, since I own the five-CD ZYX set that contains Bruckenr performances by other obscure conductors. Really, this is an essential supplement to the SWR set:

Is this set an actual release by the folks at SWR or by Berky himself?
