I just listened for the first time to this gorgeous work on Spotify as
performed by the Gulbenkian Chorus and Orchestra conducted by Lawrence
Foster. It certainly looks forward to Schubert's sacred music.
Composed in 1804, it was first performed in 1825 at a memorial for
Salieri with Schubert conducting.
