Can anyone advise on seating at the Sydney Opera House (the Concert
Hall). We're going back down next April, and I'd like to get to a
concert. We did the tour last time, but the only 'concert' ('The Return
of the King' with full orchestra) we could have attended was sold out.

TIA.

I'm assuming that you're wanting a seating plan, rather than a commentary on the comfort of the seats. If you put "sydney opera house seating" into Google, you'll soon see a downloadable .pdf file showing the seating plan.

Perhaps he's asking for advice on exactly where to sit. In my view, best to sit reasonably close to the platform as the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall acoustics do not travel too well. Back rows of stalls, the circle (lower down preferably) and boxes U, V, A and B are best.

Then it's easy. There are no bad seats. (I've been there a lot.)

Assuming you are thinking of symphony or chamber orchestra, then I agree with the recomendations for middle and back of stalls, front of circle and boxes A/B/U/V; probably I would say the bixes were the best bet (though I don't have much experience in the "premium" seats in the very middle of the stalls). I found the sound to be rather attenuated by the back of the circle, and rather over bright right at the front of the stalls. Within the boxes A/B/U/V, I found all the seats great (no difference from the front of the box to the back). In value-for-money, Boxes D/X can be a good choice, as they are sometimes a lower price band than A/B/U/V, and sound almost as good.

Went to a concert there last night. We sat in the middle of Row D of the Circle. The sound was fine, though I suspect they would have been premium seats, if price is an issue. We had comps, so I don't know what the seats would have cost.
