We're pleased today to announce that the CDs remastered by Pristine
Audio for The Divine Art Record Company are now available to purchase
online at Pristine Audio Direct at an excellent price! These are full
commercial pressings complete with extensive sleevenotes, and are not
available as MP3 downloads.

Since spring 2005, Divine Art have released five CDs, two of which are
doubles, with a further two due out on 20th March (*starred below), for
which we can reveal exclusive details and extended sound samples.

The CDs are as follows:

27801 - Sibelius: Symphonies 5 & 6, Tapiola
LSO/Kajanus, FNO/Schneevoigt, (1932/34)

“I cannot recommend this CD too highly. Few accounts of the fifth
symphony are more dramatic…" – Denby Richards (Musical Opinion)

27802 - Mendelssohn: Elijah
Williams, Jones, Serena, Baillie, Purvis
BBC National Chorus & Orchestra/Robinson (1930)

"Choral CD of the Year, 2005" - Classic Record Collector Magazine
“first rate standards of production and repertoire... astoundingly
good quality” – David Patmore (Classic Record Collector)

27803 - Beethoven: Piano Trios
Trio Santoliquido (1942/52)

"The recording of the C minor trio, new to me, is delectable... This
lovely disc carries an unequivocal recommendation.” – Tully Potter
(Classic Record Collector)

27804 - Bach: The Art Of Fugue
Roth Quartet, Sir Donald Tovey (1934/5)

“Even more valuable [than the new Naxos Bach CD]… Feelingly played…
fine transfers and excellent annotations” – Rob Cowan (The Gramophone)

27805 - Mascagni & Leoncavallo: "Cav and Pag"
British National Opera Company (1927)
“fine singing on excellent transfers. The clarity and immediacy of
sound reveal performances which at best give pleasure by any standards…
fascinating as period documents. Startlingly fine transfers.” –
John Steane (The Gramophone 2006)

They did several for DG in the mid-50's which I will be working on as
copyright passes - I love Santoliquido's playing, particularly on the
78rpm transfers of the 3rd Beethoven Trio. Appropriately, it's a little
saintly and almost liquid! :-)

I have this Elijah recording and while I love the piece and it is a
great restoration and all, as a performance it is not as good as the
1945 Malcolm Sargent Elijah on either EMI LPs or Dutton cds. Both have
Williams as a singer, but in spite of his age, the later recording is
better and inn fact, is one of the great recordings of this work. The
earlier recording is not a complete recording of the work, either.

I love Santoloquido's production design for all those Woody Allen films.

Oops, you mean it's Santo Loquasto? That's very different. Never mind!

Thanks - I'm having difficulty using the Cue Sheets when importing the mp3
of the Long Faure works to my mp3 player. It doesn't recognise cue sheets
when importing the files. They do work with Nero but I tend to download for
my mp3 player, so here I think I'll have to listen to the separate works as
one track, which is a bit of a pain.

Our recordings are available - albeit with a later release date - from
the Chandos website as individual track MP3 files, if this helps.
