Anyway, I've got some of the late 1920s HMVs and some late 1940s Columbias.
The HMVs are in places rather worn, particularly in loud passages, but
Sargent's performances still come through. I do also have his Decca
Beethoven 5th, which I transferred some time ago, but I need to do it again
now that I have improved decrackling software
HMV B2437-8 Rossini - William Tell Overture - Royal Opera Orchestra, Covent
Garden, Malcolm Sargent.
(matrices Bb 9938-II, 9939-II, 9940-I, 9941-II, recorded 18th Feb 1927)

HMV C1873-4 - 3 sides are taken up with the Rosamunde Overture. I'm
uploading the filler here - one of Brahms's Hungarian Dances with a Symphony
Orchestra.
(matrix Cc 11677-II, recorded 6th Oct 1927)

Columbia DX1447-8 - 3 sides of Brahms's Academic Festival Overture. The
filler side which I've uploaded is another Brahms Hungarian Dance, this time
with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
(matrix 9850-1, recorded 1947/8)

And I enjoyed the Overture so much I had to upload it (matrix 9847-2,
9848-1, 9849-1)
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=F1E7DE8420098102
From Columbia DX1441-2 Britten's Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes, with the
London Symphony Orchestra. I've uploaded No.2 Sunday Morning.
(matrix CAX 10120-2, recorded 11/11/1947)
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=D3859F447F83B543
And finally, from Columbia DX1607 Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries with the
Philharmonia Orchestra.
(matrix CAX 10389-1, rec 1949/50) (the reverse has the Rheingold prelude)

I don't have a Columbia post-1930 discography, so except for the Britten,
whose recording date came from the LSO's online discography, I've had to
give a general date range for the recordings in question, partly based on
whether they appear in the June 1949 Columbia catalogue. Any more detailed
info would be appreciated. The Grimes Sea Interludes were recorded 2 years
and 5 months after the premiere of the opera. This is presumably their 2nd
recording - van Beinum got there about 2 months earlier for Decca.
As usual, the downloads are available on yousendit for 100 downloads or
7days.
I hope these prove enjoyable.
Damian R
John Hunt published a collection of 6 discographies under the heading
"Musical Knights" in 1995 ... of Sir Henry Wood, Sir Thomas Beecham,
Sir Adrian Boult, Sir John Barbirolli, Sir Reginald Goodall, and Sir
Malcolm Sargent. You'll find your discographic details there (if it's
still available). Google "John Hunt Discographies" for the links.
Sadly it's not available on his site or on amazon uk or abebooks uk.
But thanks, I'll keep my eyes open for it.
Damian
Hunt only gives the month and year, so the two Brahms works were
recorded in March 1947 and the Wagner 'Ride' in December 1948.
Great items! Thanks for the downloads.
BTW - I have (IIRC) the van Beinum Peter Grimes 78's I am not sure if
they have been transferred to CD yet. I may include these sides in a
project later on...

I was favourably impressed by the sound on those late 40s Columbias for
Sargent, though.
