I bought the Decca box Gluck – The Great Operas. It has no libretti, but in the booklet there is a link to a site and a password to access them in pdf format.
However, when on the site, after entering the password, I can see the links to download the pdf files. But when I click on them, I get the message «403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access /html/deccaclassics/lyrics-download/4786899/download/gluck_armide.pdf on this server ».
Anyone experienced the same problem?
I tried to contact Decca, but there is no e-mail on their site. Tried private message on facebook, but had no reply. Mailed to Universal records, but had no reply.
Thanks for your help.

you dont have to have one of the CDs in your laptop's disc drive at the same time? that was how it used to work.

It is not said in the booklet. However, I tried and the result was the same: 403 Forbiden...

If you do a google search for

product manager decca classical twitter

you will come up with twitter contacts for Decca bureaucrats. Twitter or Facebook is probably the way to go. Or a registered letter to the head office of Decca Classical. Email is passé.

Boa sorte.

Don't try to work with Decca. They're not set up for dealing with individual customers. Going "straight to the top" never works. Report the matter to the firm from whom you bought the set, and let them get it fixed up.

You can find a sizable resource here: http://www.cs.hs-rm.de/~weber/opera/libretto.htm

There are many libretti for many operas by many composers at that site. Hope this helps... --E.A.C

Those will usually be only the sung language librettos, what most people want is the sung language AND their spoken language translation. Not usually found in those websites as the translations are usually copyrighted to the translator or the company which commissioned or leased it for the recording.

The most complete site I've found is kareol.es, at least for Spanish speakers, but if you don't read Spanish you can get at least the source language.

I'm not sure if all the copyright things are in order. There is a "scanned and translated by" at the end of the page, so I guess they do new translations, but there are also librettos of operas by Philip Glass and others, I doubt those are in the public domain...

There was a similar problem I had with the Decca Mono Years box
set. There was supposed to be downloadable notes to 6 of the
CDs but I couldn't find them, and posted about the problem
here and the problem was solved, I forgot how, something like
the link to the download wasn't showing up on the page it was
supposed to be at from the URL printed in the booklet. So first
of all, give more details about what you tried to do, because
the URL you gave is not valid:

/html/deccaclassics/lyrics-download/4786899/download/gluck_armide.pdf

Check what the URL actually is in the booklet and the problem
might be solved.
