Just a few thoughts for now. First, it's a neat project. Then:
Sym. 5: the conductor's name was Szenkar, not Szenekar. Eugen
Szenkar.
Sym. 6: Frieder Weissmann: this set is 10 sides. I own one.
5086/5090 is five double-sided records.
6: Music Appreciation S 117,anonymous performers, is a pirated
American dubbing of the Mengelberg/Concertgebouw Telefunkens. I own
both and have verified it.
Many acoustical recordings remain to be listed. Szell made an
acoustical version of the 4th symphony in Berlin; Weissmann and Eduard
Moerike recorded all 9 symphonies acoustically, and Bruno Seidler-
Winkler did some for DG/Polydor, including a complete 9th; Albert
Coates made two versions of the 7th symphony, one apparently complete
(it's rare), plus a complete 9th; Mengelberg recorded the first
movement of 5 with the NY Philharmonic for Victor. And more.
Does anyone have Claude Arnold's discography of acoustical
orchestral records? It's a masterpiece and can contribute very much
toward this project.
A great thing. I hope to be involved. Thanks.
