Based on some mentions in the recent thread on Brahms' solo piano music, I
posted the following remark on Augustin Anievas' Facebook Wall the other day:

"Happy Birthday, Maestro! Your Brahms Variations are still much appreciated
by music lovers."

His reply:

"Dear Matthew, Thanks so much for your birthday greetings; I am astonished
that anyone knows or cares!
My new cd is now out, with the Schumann Fantaisie and Opus 10----one is
'supposed to' be able to find it on I Tunes--so far, I have not! My Very best
wishes, and regards, Agustin"

Schumann Fantasie, not "Fantaisie". Maybe that's why he can't find it?

Sorry! 'Misspelled his [Anievas's] forename'.

If you misspelled it wrongly, then it must be correct, right?

A person's first name used to be called their Christian name.

I found it easily enough.

Newport Classics.

Released Oct. 10, 2010.

Can't locate it in Amazon or in the Newport Classics catalogue. But
copies exist and were sold at four recitals he gave near Valencia in
October prior to his going to Warsaw for the competition. Anievas is
chairman of the USA Chopin Competition.

My friend John Deacon (no relation, but ex Philips Classics and EMI
exec) says the recitals sold out and tat the pianist was playing
better than ever.

Anievas and his wife are now living in Florida. He just took delivery
of a new Fazioli.

Hooray! The witch is dead!
