> An excellent artist, probably best remembered nowadays (when remembered at all) for chamber music, esp. his recordings with the Hungarian String Quartet and as a member of the Hungarian Piano Trio (w/Arpad Gérecz and Vilmos Palotai). He was born in Budapest (birth name György Szolcsányi) but moved to France in his 20s and eventually became a French citizen. This EMI twofer (probably op but available used) is well worth acquiring:
https://www.amazon.com/Chamber-Music-Johannes-Brahms/dp/B000005GUS/. A batch of his solo Beethoven turned up in the 50-CD Beethoven "Collector's Edition" on EMI (not sonatas, iirc, but including a nice performance of the Diabelli Variations)
That big Beethoven box also contains the Beethoven trios with the Hungarian trio (and there is probably a somewhat older french EMI box with the trios or the trios with the Hungarian quartet LvB quartets or some such combination if that big box is no longer cheap or available at all).
And if one cannot find that EMI Brahms twofer there was also a single disc with the piano and clarinet quintets that might be easier or cheaper to find. (It was for me several years ago.)
