As far as I can see these are the only Mahler recordings on CD that are from master tapes, rather than from someone's recording of a radio broadcast: -

EMI Symphonies 5, 6 and 7 all included in the lastest version of the complete Tennstedt cycle from EMI.

Symphony 2 on LPO label

Symphony 3 on ICA label

Symphony 8 on LPO lablel

Are there any I've missed?

I'll assume you're not including various live videos that I know (1, 4, 5, 8) some of which overlap the CDs. I don't have any of the following recordings to hand to check, but there were several recordings on BBC Legends (1 and 7) which I assume were from the original BBC tapes rather than someone's recording. There was a #4 from SWR on Profil which I again assume was from their original tapes. There was a #1 and #6 on the LPO label which may have been from the original BBC tapes. Presumably the Mahler #5 in the NYPO big box was from their own tape.

Also, there was a live Mahler 1 with Chicago on EMI.

In addition to the #1 with the CSO that appeared on EMI, there is (or
was) on Rapidshare or some other download site a #4 from 1983 (?) with
Arleen Auger and the CSO that is, IMO, one of the fiinest performances
of that work I've ever heard. The sound is only OK. If a source exists
that would enable commercial publication, I'd be first in line to buy
it.

Tennstedt's Mahler 4 was given just a week after the CSO Mahler 1 in
1990. It is/was an extremely personal reading, certainly compelling
on its own terms. I attended one of the performances. The
circulating version is not ideal, I agree. The CSO of course
maintains the original broadcast master, but the current
administration is not so very much interested in performances of more
than 20 years ago.

Thanks for the date correction. It is indeed regrettable that the CSO
administration shows no interest in such a magnificent performance. Why
not let M O-T (or his tape equivalent) for issue on a label?--wouldn't
really matter which one as long as it's readily available on Amazon. Dog
in the manger, as usual.

Just ordered and watched the Tennstedt 1977 video of the Mahler 4 and
Mozart 35 with the BSO from Amazon. Interestingly (and
disappointingly) it is in "enhanced mono" sound. Don't know why they
would issue it like this, because in effect it's really just the
regular 'television' sound from the original "Evening at Symphony"
broadcast. And this is a BSO label/branded production. Surely the BSO
has original stereo sound from this concert. The video notes describe
it as being the third concert of three with the same program, so it's
not like they cobbled together bits of other concerts to cover over
flubs.

A live M5 with the Concertgebouw from 1990, in volume 6 of their
anthology series.
