There seem to be some really great classical offerings unique to Tower Records Japan on their website www.tower.co.jp. However, it is much harder to navigate than HMV. Has anyone had any success ordering from the US and is there an English option on their website as I have not found it?

Thanks,

Phillip

Matthew will no doubt have something to say, but the long and short of
it appears to be that they will only sell within Japan. There's a way
around it by having someone in Japan order and ship it to you, but if
done commercially it's pretty expensive. If you have a friend in Japan
who could order for you and send it along, that would be more
economical. AFAIK, there is no English version of the website.

Following is a previous post of mine on the subject:

White Rabbit is a proxy buying service for Japanese goods otherwise
unavailable outside Japan.

You start the ordering process by clicking on "Get a Quote" and describe
the item you want to buy and paste in a url referencing the product.
Then they send you a price quote, which reflects what they have to pay
(at Tower Japan for the Mainardi box, for example) plus a service charge
equal to 15% of the product price ($15 minimum), plus a package
forwarding fee which is based on product weight (in this case $6.50)
plus actual shipping charges (in this case $21). You have 72 hours to
place the order at that price.

You can decide for yourself whether the Tower items are worth this
effort and cost.

Like I said, much cheaper to have a friend in Japan who can order and
receive the goods for you, then ship them on.

That's how I got the limited CDR of the Toscanini Bruckner 7th, after which
it became, shall we say, readily available for download.
