Is the Neeme Jarvi cycle on dg the same as his on BIS? What are your thoughts about the merits of either? Thanks in advance.

Not the same the BIS recordings are much earlier. 1980s vs 1990s and later for the DG.

No, not the same. Järvi recorded a lot of works by Sibelius (also works
by Stenhammar) first for BIS, and later again for DG, with the same
orchestra. The DG recordings never bettered his first recordings for BIS.

Not the same. I've been listening to the Ormandy Sibelius box set, and have the BIS 2nd, so I gave it a spin. Of course it should go without saying Jarvi is leaner and meaner than Ormandy. I probably need time to switch gears though, the Jarvi sounded rushed a lot of the time to me, and the brass was coarse.
