Can anyone tell me the RV# of the Cello Concerto in E- Minor by Vivaldi
featured in Kubrick's BARRY LYNDON?...my soundtrack cd merely state that
the performance(only the 3rd movement) is by Pierre Fournier with the
Festival Strings Lucerne under Rudolph Baumgartner...I do not believe
this is on cd...but would like to get a cd performance of the entire
piece..I know it is NOT the RV 409...because I have that on Volume 3 of
the Naxos Vivaldi Cello Concerti series...any help would be greatly
appreciated...thanks,gb

I've never been able to identify it either. The melody of the slow
movement, however is quite common. Known as "La Follia," it has been
used by such diverse composers as Corelli and Handel.

There used to be collections of pieces based on "La Follia" on the
Hyperion Label.

I believe that it's an orchestrated version of
Vivaldi's Sonata for Cello and Continuo in E minor,
RV 40. It's available on discs by cellists Coin,
Starker, and Harnoy.
