The Dutch public broadcast organization "Avro" has an enormous archive
of classical concerts on-line (128 kbs!!). You can vote every week
which concert will be on-line, earlier concerts are archived. You can
find the concerts on:

And the archive on:

http://www.avroklassiek.nl/luisterkamer/zoc_eerder.asp


With the help of systran I have made some translations of the Dutch
text:

Klik hier om te luisteren in breedband en smalband =
Click here to listen in broadband and smalband

Klik hier om te luisteren naar eerder verschenen concerten=
Click here to listen to previously broadcasted concerts


Via deze site kunt u online luisteren naar de mooiste concerten.
Iedere week kiezen we drie bijzondere concerten uit ons rijke
Zondagochtend Concert-archief. Aan u de keuze welk concert we voor u
op de site mogen zetten de week erna. =

Trough this site you can listen online to the most beautiful
concerts. Every weak we choose three particular concerts from our rich
Sunday morning concert files. To you the choice which concert we can
put for you on the site the week afterwards.

Welk concert kunnen wij 24 juni voor u op de site zetten?=
Which concert can we put for you on the site June 24?

It doesn't appear to work if you click on these pages directly: you have to
use the site's "track picker" via the home page:

http://www.avroklassiek.nl/luisterkamer/

then select "Keuzeconcert" and click on "hier om te luisteren naar eerder
verschenen concerten" for the archive.
If you want to bypass this you can load the streaming location directly into
Media Player, e.g.

mms://media.omroep.nl/avro/klassiek/zoc/zoc_021222_bb.wma

for the concert of March 10, 2002.

I was able to click on the 'archive' page links and have the music
begin to stream without any problems. Good quality sound, too.

A weird one is Philippe Herrewege conducting Brucikner's 7th symphony.

That's odd - I just got an "unable to connect to server" message. As you
say, the broadband option provides very good audio. Did you see that there
are several complete opera recordings also? I had no trouble using Net
Transport for, er, "delayed" listening ;-)

That was also my point in the reply above. However, if you open up Media
Player (or the streaming media application of your choice) and enter the url
in square brackets, in this case

mms://media.omroep.nl/avro/klassiek/zoc/zoc_030625_bb.wma

it playes quite nicely. Also had no trouble using Net Transport for, er,
"delayed" listening ;-)
