A few hours ago I got a message from Japan, where John was visiting relatives,
that he has passed away this morning, unexpectedly.
He has been posting here since March of this year. I know some of us considered
him a very welcome contributor.
8 Days ago he decided to stop contributing in this newsgroup (see thread "I've
had a good time but....").

In a very short time we have become good friends. I will miss his friendship and
company.
Maybe I will post some more information about him later, if his relatives don't
object.
I hope that he will rest in peace.

This is shocking, saddening news. I am very sorry to learn of it. John was,
as far as I could tell, a friendly and engaging fellow, and we exchanged a
number of emails over the past few months. I will certainly miss him.

How horrible. My condolences to his family and friends, including his

This is sad news indeed. We were just getting

As was the case with Matthew, I exchanged a few Emails with him (initiated
by him in response to something I wrote). Seems like I just got to know
him, and now he's gone! Carpe diem.
