The successor entity, www.classicselectworld.com, indicates in their FAQs that "ClassicSelect World is an international company that is based in London. Some employees of ClassicSelect World have worked for ClassicSelect.com but there is no legal connection between the two companies.". The site and its offerings closely resemble the now-extinct ClassicSelect. I'd be cautious.

Greg incorporated in UK to avoid any Classicselect legal fallout (aka "why didn't you refund my unshipped order payment?").

Just a guess, mind you.

Cautious? I wouldn't risk a dime. He has the assets to start a "new"
business, but can't refund money due from canceled orders? I also
wouldn't order a significant amount from someone who charges before the
order ships.

Like Presto?

I forgot that they do that. I guess the only thing I can say is that
they have proven themselves trustworthy over the years, and they ship
pretty quickly, so it's not extending much of a loan. Still, I think
it's wrong, and I suppose there is always some risk of them going out of
business owning you product that you have already paid for. Before MDT
went out of business they did not charge until they shipped (perhaps
they started doing this right before they died - they were going to),
and that is the main reason I preferred them to Presto over the years.

It was certainly so with me. I lost money over a failed back-order with
Presto when they refunded several months later with a different exchange
rate.

Another thing you don't have to worry about when you buy downloads. I did on one occasion manage to get into a 'loop' and buy two copies of a download plus the CD, but an e-mail sufficed to get the problem sorted out pretty damn quick.

Luckily I hadn't bought anything from them since before the first of the year, and received everything I had ordered. Too bad when people get hosed by these shady dealings though.
