Michelangeli:

The version recommended by many in this NG is on Decca/London, which is out of
print. Has this version appeared elsewhere under a different label? If not,
what other performances (Op.111) by ABM are worth pursuing?

There is an Op.111 by ABM in Aura's "Seven Wonders" package. Is it good?

Richter:

Most in this NG recommended "Richter in Leipzig" on M&A, which is out of print.
Is the Doremi CD containing the last 3 sonatas a good substitute?

Sofronitsky:

His Beethoven CD on ARLECCHINO was recommended in this NG. This CD is out of
print (and was recently auctioned on eBay at US$185.49). Has Sofronitsky's
Op.111 appeared elsewhere under a different label?

If you are referring to the 3feb52 recording; this is on Urania SP
4203.

I have a feeling the Op. 111 on Aura is from a 1990 Barbican recital
by Michelangeli - if it is avoid it at all costs - a very unfortunate
pirate. I still think that the Decca version is available. Try MDT
or Amazon.com.

I still see the ABM Decca disc as an import at Tower pretty consistently (at
least I did when they still had a strong import section).

I don't believe so.

Probably more promising is this one:

BEETHOVEN Sonatas 3 4 & 32 Bagatelle Op119/3 LISZT Piano Concerto No.1
Michelangeli in Bonn 11th October 1970 (Beethoven Anniversary) RAI/ Kubelik
1961 Living Stage 2cds [MDT listing]

Anybody heard it?

SE.

The Seven Wonders package I don't know about but I do have ABM's Op.111
on Aura as a single disk with some of his Chopin favorites. I realize
it's only $6 dollars or so but it's still a waste of money. A great
example that "Digital Recording" doesn't always mean better. The
artifacts and noise are unbearable and ABM's playing just sounds harsh.

What's wrong with Richter II (All Beethoven) from the Great Pianists series?

Could you comment on the transfer quality of Urania 4203? Thanks.

I suppose it's more or less like the Arlecchino. Solid Soviet Sound
Melodiya vinyl, not overfiltered, but quite straightly put on cd.

Fortunately Sofronitsky is one of those artists who is able to come
through *every* transfer.
