Reading HJ Lim’s biographical sketch from about a dozen years ago, I remember that she had tried to become Buddhist nun and was rejected at that time.

I certainly see the wisdom in that move. She was seen as a highly talented young lady who needed to manifest her exceptional ability before the mandatory renunciation.

If you have ever seen Buddhist monks construct a mandala (a beautiful, meticulously designed symbol, made of colored sand on the ground which is immediately destroyed after being finished) you know that this is an exercise in complete and utter detachment which is viewed as absolutely necessary in both Buddhism and Vedanta Hinduism.

The reason I think that this is likely what has happened in the last 10 years is because it seems to have remained silent. If she has gotten married and started a family there would be no reason for her life to have been hidden. Taking monastic vows on the other hand is some thing that would be done in private. I am not claiming to know this for a fact, but if this is what she did she has my highest admiration and respect.

There is really no single pianist I am less interested in than HJLim.

There was a time when some people here (or some such place) always said Sv. Richter in any piece of music. Sv. Richter 24 / 7. That got me off Richter totally, too.
And, obviously, Richter is a genius musician.
Lim is just a hairtossing key banger.

Her life is not hidden at all -- except perhaps to people
who cannot access YouTube. There is no shortage of
more recent clips on YT, including one in which she
appears pregnant and several with a big wedding ring.

She gave concerts in Korea as recently as June and
July this year, she teaches master classes, and so on.

There are some people here (or some such
place) who always say Arrau in any piece of
music. Claudio Arrauthritis 24/7. You never
complain about them, do you?

> That got me off Richter totally, too.

It has been pretty obvous for a while that
you do not rely on your ears. Who cares
about what others hear or think if one
can hear and think by oneself.

> And, obviously, Richter is a genius musician.

And just like every other musician, he is
more successful in some repertoire than
in different repertoire.

> Lim is just a hairtossing key banger.

Herman is just a deaf, dumb, hate speech
spewing anti Asian racist who jumps at
every opporunity to deride and insult
Asian and/or women artists.

Is there any point in notifying others
about topics that are of no interest
to one? Or should we take it as a
hint to refrain from discussing
topics that are of no interest
to Your Majesty?

All this at the same time you
accuse others of attempting
to "moderate" this group?

Jeez .....

Allow me to remind you of the countless times you break into topics to tell people they are "brainfucked idiots" because they listen and like stuff you disapprove of. Does the name Arrau ring a bell, perhaps? Or if you're in a good mood, to just change the subject to something you're interested in.
RMCR has always been a place where people can also say they do NOT like something, for instance getting spammed about a performer. The Toscanini guy comes to mind. Or indeed the Lim guy.
RMCR consists largely of written messages. You have a giant trail of angry, negative messages, so the hypocrisy of the above post reeks to high heaven.

How many times do you "break into topics"
disparaging Asian artists? Remember the
incident when you described Kyuhee Park
as a "nubile Asian woman" (or something
to that effect)? Never mind she is widely
considered to be the finest classical
guitarist currently on stage. Or just a
few messages earlier in this thread you
described HJ Lim as a "hairtossing key
banger"?

You really owe them apologies.

> Does the name Arrau ring a bell, perhaps?

Yes, it does. The worst pianist I ever heard.
You clearly do not understand there is a
difference between insulting living people
versus describing dead cattle as idiots.

As do so many others in this ng, including you.

Yes I know, I do this often. And so do many
others.

You mean the Italian military band conductor?
He has been dead for a long time, who cares?

Only "largely"?

ROTFL! No one in this ng posts more negatively
than you do. You just provided fresh proof.

Did you ever hear Arrau live?
Just curious. I have. I still
remember the cow dung
stink coming from the
stage.

Only the posts about Arrau.
The greatest classical
guanist ever.

Plus all those other soloists whose names you garble in trusty mental institution fashion - most of whom are alive, which you said warrants apologies (as if any of these people read RMCR - again, well within mental institution parameters).

Your points are well taken,
dear Arminius! Actually,
they sound more like
Gouda holes than points.
