As is usual with journalism, the important questions were not addressed.
Why was she detained? Was she questioned in connection to the
coronavirus matter? If it was simple racial profiling (hard to believe)
that she would be right to be upset, of course. Ditto if it was
regarding the virus and she was rudely treated. Is she supposed to get
special treatment because she is a celebrity? She was detained 1 hour.
I repeat 1 hour. I've waited for delayed luggage longer than that. I've
waited at passport control longer than that. AFAIK I can catch the
virus from celebrities as easily as I can from nonentities. Probably
more easily as celebrities are more likely to be traveling.

My gripe is not not with Yuja, but with the so-called journalist.
Though Yuja could have been more forthcoming.

She gave a recital in Wuhan, China last Oct. So her passport must have record that she was in China last fall. But if that is the reason she got detained, it might be over sensitive.

There are thousands of PRC citizens living in Vancouver who frequently
travel back and forth.
With the current Covid19 situation and pending pandemic, what the hell
could she expect? Racial and nationality profiling? Yes, but so effing what?

We don't actually know that she was interrogated for 1 hour. You made
that up. She was detained for 1 hour. For all we know most of that was
sitting around. We can't we just reserve judgement?
