I am especially fond of 'Joe Vincent' in the last movement of the Mahler 4th.

To each his own!

Jo Vincent was dreadful, in my opinion.

To van der Sluys (also rather old-fashioned sounding) would have been much better.

I have never liked her in this performance. She is somewhat easier to endure
in the Klemperer/Concertgebouw "Resurrection."

Did she record it with anyone?

No. She was the soloist in at least two performances of Mahler 4 with Mengelberg (in May 1938 and June 1939), though.

My belief that she would have been much better than Jo Vincent is based on my dislike of the latter and also based on the former's very nice singing in the recording of Bach cantata #202. Rather different music, of course.

I liked the Schubert's 9th where he taps the music stand a couple of
times at the beginning. Is that the one in this set?

That was apparently a 'tic' of his; IIRC it also occurs at the beginning
of the Mahler 4 and elsewhere.

Also in all Beethoven symphonies (the Philips set), cut out from the CD reissues - shame...
