Recorded November 17, 1985 in Carnegie Hall, New York

American Composers Orchestra
Leonard Bernstein, Conductor
David Arnold, Baritone

To anyone interested:

This world premiere perf has just been posted over at the
concertarchive Yahoo group. It is the 50+ minute live broadcast,
complete with interviews with the composer, the soloist, who replaced
Simon Estes literally at the last moment, full commentary, and other
features.
MP3 format

I am not permitted to post the link, but here is the homepage--for

Not in the greatest sound but pretty good for a bcst and well worth
hearing.I had never heard this work before. I believe it has never had
a
commercial recording.

P.S. Subsequently, a member of symphonyshare has posted an in-house
recording of the same performance. The soloist is distant but the
orchrestra sounds much better. There are a few audio problems
described in the post, but it too is worth hearing. Of course, this
one contains ony the music.
FLAC format

Also I created a cover. Help yourself if you like to burn stuff to a
physical disk.

Hi Jerry.

I enjoy David Diamond's music very much. Subsequently, I've known about his 9th symphony since the Friday before its primiere when it was announced as an upcoming concert over WNYC: I believe Andre Bernard was the on air host then.

I've tried to join both groups, however, since I am visually impaired and use a screen reader, I have run into some dommon problems using this software.

By any chance, could you send me the link to either one or both of the recordings? It is strictly for my own listening and I will not share it with anyone off list. I'm very much looking forward to finally having the opportunity to hear this piece.

Thanks in advance

Ken
