Can anyone inform me if this company has now gone out of business?

I cannot access their website and they haven't demanded money for
quite somewhile.

Searching the net for information doesn't find information relating to
their demise.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanking you.

It wouldn't surprise me, I gave up on them a couple of years ago.
Constantly sending the wrong items and the call staff in India are a
nightmare to deal with. I lost patience and closed my membership,
besides, all they seem to offer is the same old same old from the
majors (admittedly heavily discounted), but not enough to tickle my
fancy...

Cheers,
Simon

It has gone into liquidation. That's what they said when I called
their telephone line. I have bought an enormous amount of CD out of
them, over the years. Service deteriorated a lot over the last couple
of years and lately it was completely ridiculous. For some reason the
quality of the service deteriorated even further when they got rid of
the Indian customer services and moved the service back to Britain:
they never answered the phone and they really didn't seem to know what
they were talking about. Prices were still quite low though and the
good costumers were rewarded with a 10% extra discount. That was the
best thing from them.

Can some forum members confirm that the Britannia Music Club has gone
into "administration". A message on their answering machine indicates
that this is so.

When did they fold? No messages in the press - unless it has just
occurred.

A pity - I bought hundreds of CDs from them at highly competitive
prices during their clearance sales. But they were hard work.

A passing of another era?!

I don't know what further confirmation you are looking for. I told you
they are gone into administration. Their phone line says the same.
What else do you need?

I shall lament the passing of Britannia!

I cut my classical collecting career with them and spent many an hour
wading through the catalogue (before it went online and after). The
best bargain, which I think was a mistake at the time, was purchasing
the Solti Wagner collection for a paltry thirty quid!!! Made a killing
on that!

Cheers,
Simon

They had a weird policy that allowed you, if you wished so, to receive
the items first and pay later. For this reason I never paid for the
latest Harnoncourt-Figaro that I didn't receive.

I never needed to phone them and got the 10% discount so I'd been
viewing the state of http://www.bclub.co.uk/ with increasing concern
as September ran out.

I found a good selection of stuff there esp as the nearest bricks and
mortar store is miles away from here..

Ditto.

The mags usually go straight in the bin after a flick-through, but the last
one to arrive has been sitting on my desk for a couple of months as I'd
decided to buy a couple of the Hyperion Dyads at £7.19 + zero p&p.

I just wanted to check that the prices were still valid!

Like others I had suspected that Britannia was in trouble some months
ago and closed my accounts. I have now received demands for non-
payments from Intrum Justitia who are claiming administration of the
Britannia business. If like me you know your account was up to date,
don't part with any more money and inform other ex-members of this
situation.

Terry,
thanks for the information. I too received a demand from Intrum
Justitia, but was a bit suspicious because:
a) my account was paid up, and
b) I have received no requests for payment from BMusicClub since I
cancelled my account months ago.
I would advise all people who receive demands from Justitia to send
them back and at least ask for more details
about what you alledgedly owe them.

This has just featured on BBC1's Watchdog programme - suggest you get
back to the Justitia people again. Apparently the receivers have put out
17000 claims for outstanding Britannia Music Club payments - and only
about 1% have been queried. By the sounds of it many of the claims were
small, and I guess therefore people have just paid up. Justitia are now
supposedly clued up about this...

As far as I am aware Amazon might have taken over some of Britannias
activities. When I go to my saved Britannia page it directs me to
Amazon, also in my favourites Britannia now shows the Amazon logo.
Worth a try

Hi still not Joy.

Have been in touch with Justitia, and they are telling me they are
just collecting outstanding payment for Britannia Music. And are not
the Administration.
And have asked for my account number.

Also have been in touch with watchdog still not reply from them.

Can any one tell me if they have had any more other firm saying they
are administration for Britannia music.
