Tower Japan is offering a 40 cd collection of Tahra Furtwängler
releases.
Much of the material in the box is "out-Of-Print" according to Tahra's
web site.

This looks to be a Tower-Japna-Only special issue, like some of their
Universal reissues.

I have not seen reference to this set in other Tower Japan email ads,
but it looks like it has been around a few months. Has anyone else
picked up this set yet?

I do not own any of the Tahra Furtwängler issues, so this is 100% new
material for me. Depsite the seemingly high price, it is still a
bargain (with shipping it comes out to about $13 USD per CD).

If I wanted these Tahra recordings... Where would I go? What would I do?

Using Google Translate, I've managed to order from Tower Japan before
without any problems.
You can often figure where to click by observing the English text in
teh status bar as you drag the cursor over a link.
Tedious, yes. But if you want it you can get the job done that way.

You access Google Translate from the "More" grop down on the Google
home page, then select "Even More" at the bottom of the from down.

I just received my copy.
A splendid production.
Scanning the catalogue, it is very evident Tahra had to leave out any
remasterings they did of material previously copyrighted, particularly
the HMV/EMI items..
Possibly related to the copyright turmoil raging in Europe these days,
or it could also be that Japan does not have the 50 year limitation
currently in force in Europe.
I'll have to look to supplement this collection with some of the
latest Tochiba issues of the HMV copyrighted material.
