Most of the later generation DGG 2fers have the "Original Image Bit
Processing" logo on the back.
The same technology is what is primarily used to distiguish the
"Originals" series recordings.
Is it therefore likely that there is no difference in teh masters used
for a recording available as part of one of those 2fers that is also
available in one of the "Originals" series issues?

Example : The DGG 2fer with Abbado's Stravinsky recordings
http://tinyurl.com/26hwwt8 has the same recordings that are available
in an Originals release http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3637609
(albeit the Originals release is only available in Japan).

Another : The DGG Kubelik Smetana collection 2fer http://tinyurl.com/28dpr3g
. The Ma Vlast is also available separately as an Originals release
http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3637639 (Again, the Originals
release in this case is only available in Japan).

One that does not involve a Japan release is Kempff's stereo Beethoven
Concerto recordings. The 2fer http://tinyurl.com/296m6e3 has Concertos
1-4. The Originals release http://tinyurl.com/29zk3ax has the same
recording of 4 plus the 5th.

I suppose I could use the Beethoven as a means of comparison since
they are both availoable domestically to determine if it is worth
getting the Originals releases from Japan. Has anyone compared teh 4th
from teh 2fer with the Originals release?

But then again whose to say the Japan-only Originals releases aren't
different. The Japanese do oftner prefer what I might term a sharper
sound.

I wouldn't think there would be any difference between one DG
"Original Image Bit Processing" release and another, regardless of
country of release.

The link for the Abbado 2fer should be http://tinyurl.com/2b259yw.
