How many times did M. Kraus record integrales of the Sonatas? I am familiar with the one from 1967/68; it was reissued by Sony in a cap-box approx. ten years ago. Wasn't there another integrale that preceded it and recorded for Henri Screpel's Les Discophiles Français? What year? Mono recordings only? How does it compare to the more widely distributed later stereo remakes? Thx in advance.

Of course, I mean to write Mme. Kraus, not M. Kraus.

Don't know about any French cycle by Kraus, but there is one from 1954 (mono) recorded for the Haydn Society, released by M&A on CD:

5 CDs worth, includes lots of minor pieces. Several cheap copies available on amazon if you don't mind buying used.

The recordings date from the mid 1950s.
EMI, and now Warner, became the owners of the recordings.

The recordings are also available in the big Warner Krauss box

Haydn Society licensed many Les Discophile Français recordings.
They are the same as the ones on the EMI and Warner releases I sent links for.

Stop harping and tell me about the _recordings_, dee-kay.

A few weeks ago, erstwhile r.m.c.r. pianophile Tee-dee dropped this dependable deplorable from his FB friends list after I chimed in on Barenboim's Beethoven Piano Sonatas integrale release (2020). Guess I was too critical of someone else's opinion! In hindsight, I regret my utterance, but I'm afraid I'm now exiled forevermore.

What drum set are you proposing to buy then, or do you leave it to the Nipponese wunderkind?
;)

Thanks for the information. I was not aware of this. The way M&A worded it on their box, it sounded like Haydn Society was the original sponsor/owner of these recordings.
