Membran Furtwängler LEgacy box - &83 from Amazon Marktetplace

The Membran Furtwängler Legacy box is currently available from an
Amazon.com Marketplace merchant for only $83 with S&H. Admittedly
you'll have to wait a few weeks for it to ship from Germany. But for
the price some may want to go for it. Agreed, the sound is often not
the best, Membran will always be Membran. I would not pay the asking
prices for the set for a long time, even when it got as low as $105. I
own too much of it in superior versions already. My main goal was to
get some of the choral and opera not contained in my primary
Furtwängler collection (the Tower Japan Tahra edition), the price had
to go down a lot befire I was tempted enough to splurge for it. which
I did today.

What would those choral and opera thingies be? I think I have all his
repertoire on EMI, DG, Tahra, Fonit Cetra, Music & Arts and now
Arbiter and the shorter 10 CD Membran set. But I am not as obsessive
as the Glenn Gould Goldberg Groupies.

Things I don't have include the Bach SMP, Mozart Da Ponte operas, Die
Meistersinger, Berlioz' La Damnation de Faust, and a half dozen or
more other such items.
I have most all of the orchestral recordings and both Ring cycles, but
little else in the opera or chorla realm.

Ok, I get it. I take it that you're aware that Furtlebanger's Don
Giovanni is available on a DG DVD and there are EMI and Orfeo CD box
sets of his Nozze di Figaro and Magic Flute. The 1943 Meistersinger is
missing the third act quintet.
