Do you know if a radio transmission of the concert can be download
anywhere?

Where can we find that praise?
That's Yoel Gamzu.

The last event of the Jüdische Kulturtage (Jewish Culture Festival) on
Sunday September 5th paid homage to the late-Romantic composer Gustav
Mahler, whose bicentennial is being celebrated this year.

On a German website* they write:
"Mit dem International Mahler Orchestra wird er sie am 5. September
ebenfalls in der Synagoge Rykestraße präsentieren - auf den Tag genau 100
Jahre, nachdem Mahler die letzte Note an dieser Sinfonie schrieb."
The performance was done on Sept. 5, exactly 100 years after Mahler wrote
the last note of that piece.

Well, they are private people, that's all.
I was wondering if/when I'd see his name again. In May of 2007, I was
heading into London's Barbicon for a concert (BBC SO/Zinman w/ Julia
Fischer doing the Beethoven concerto, a premiere of a work by Alasdair
Nicholson called Broken Symphony, and the Brahms 3rd), and a young
tuxedo'd guy was out front handing out leaflets for an upcoming event
(a youth SO or something like that), and I stopped and chatted with
him for a few minutes. I mentioned the Dudamel CSO debut I'd heard the
month before and the guy mentioned that he'd recently won one of the
same competitions Dudamel had won. I asked his name, and it stuck in
my head (unusual for me and names). Very friendly and unassuming guy.

It's an interesting and unusual name that comes from early rabbinic literature. See
