I'll take a stab at two :-
1. Discovering the string quartets of Beethoven. It might seem odd that
having multiple cycles of Bruckner, Mahler and Sibelius, and Haydn, that
it has taken me so long, but the wait was well worth it. For me, these
works alone tower over anything else of the period, or for that matter,
the century.
2. Discovering the alternative rock groups of the mid 70s to the mid 80s
(The Clash, Joy Division, Talking Heads, OMD, Depeche Mode, etc.) thru
Bowie, to Radiohead. I gain much pleasure from the DVD TV medium with
surround sound for this type of music. In short, I refuse to feel guilty
about it anymore.
How about yous all? Remember, the experience/s has to be something of a
musical revelation, not merely the best recording of X,Y, or Z.
Thanks.

In my part of the backwoods it's the oughts; same principle as the
'thirty-ought-six' vocalization of .30-06.

> "Noughties?"
e.g. 1900-1909, or 2000-2009
1910-1919 - teens
1920-1929 - twenties, etc.

I have never heard the phrase 'thirty-naught-six'. Case closed.
