Enough said really.

If you need more information about this Putin parrot:

Occupied Mariupol? She will probably call the graveyard and the rubble
Putin c.s. reduced this city to liberated Mariupol.

"The world-famous pianist Valentina Lisitsa came to Mariupol to please the citizens with her creativity. The musician played for people in the open air. Different compositions of Russian and foreign composers sounded. The song “Victory Day” became special, those gathered at the mini-concert sang along".

So I presume she's playing to the Russians here. Shameful. I don't see much of a future career for her in the West.

She just signed a 3-year contract with Naïve Records and is supposed to record the complete piano works of Rachmaninoff. However she was on the lineup of classical artists on their website just yesterday, but now appears missing. I wonder if her contract was cancelled.

She has recorded a good complete piano work by Tchaikovsky...

Did Ney ever perform in any cities the nazis had recently destroyed and liquidated a large portion of their population, before the fighting was even over? I mean I have been disgusted with Lisitsa since 2014, but this just goes beyond anything before. I just felt sick when I read about this performance.

It seems the only Tchaikovsky piano work I have is Richter's recording of the Grand Sonata (coupled with Pictures at an Exhibition). Is there other Tchaikovsky piano music that one should have (obviously not performed by Lisitsa - or Berezovsky, Matsuev, Pletnev for that matter)?

Apparently she made pro-Russian (very provocative) remarks back in 2014-15 on Twitter which resulted in the Toronto SO cancelling all dates with her. Fwiw, her mother is Russian/Polish, and her father Ukrainian.

The best (or the only good) Tchaikovsky solo piano piece is the Dumka.
It has been recorded by Horowitz and many others.

Has Arcady Volodos had anything to say about these matters? He has
been touring in Germany and Austria recently. Is that where he lives?

I have the Victory Day cd by Alexandrov Choir -- but I did NOT give it a celebratory spin on 9 May...!

Her remarks were not so pro-Russian as they were demeaning and contemptuous of Ukrainians, whom she described as pigs and vermin, employing rhetoric which must have made the heart of every active member of the Joseph Goebbels fan club beat with pride and gratification, knowing that, while their hero may have left us, his spirit lives on.

My music collection is now and shall ever remain free of her droppings.

Seasons and Sonatas without Pletnev? Don't want to support kiddie diddlers and/or Putin parrots.

Which is a Russian and later also a Soviet tradition. going back to the
days of the Russian empire. Czar Vladimir Putin and his parrots have
revived it.

I've just recently learned of an "Executed Renaissance" generation of Ukrainian artists who existed in the early Soviet years, and existed until Stalin implemented his Great Break.

Zhukov, and others.

No evidence was presented
and charges were dismissed.
It transpired later the charges
were made up.

I have not noticed Pletnev
acting as a Putin PR agent
-- unlike Gergiev, Lisitsa or
Matsuev. Can you provide
links to any evidence?

Very bizarre considering she is herself half Ukrainian.

That would be good to know! Sauce? I know he's one of the foremost Tchaikovsky interpreters, but I have avoided him all these years for that reason.

Nothing recent, and can't find anything from years ago. He doesn't seem to be saying much, if anything at all, about his stance, and with very good reason:

https://slippedisc.com/2022/04/moscow-apparatchik-takes-over-mikhail-pletnevs-orchestra/

Former director of the RNO, Svetlana Rips made the following FB post which could have well led to her ousting:

I can find no evidence that the charges were fabricated. What we know is that he was not charged, which means nothing. We have no idea if he did the deed.
