A couple obscure pianists in rare recordings.

Katherine Bacon ( 1896 - 1982 ) , live at Juilliard, 1952 , appears to have been a strong-willed artist with her own ideas, fine tone ( even at 192 kbps),formidable technique ( despite a couple glitches in the Chopin Scherzo ), and broad repertoire. Per the IPAM site , she did a couple complete Beethoven sonata cycles. Only 4 recordings at IPAM, apparently all live.

Franck, César, 1822-1890. Pieces, organ (1862). Prélude, fugue et variation, arranged
Beethoven, Ludwig van, 1770-1827. Sonatas, piano, no. 17, op. 31, no. 2, D minor
Schumann, Robert, 1810-1856. Papillons
Chopin, Frédéric, 1810-1849. Berceuse, piano, op. 57, D♭ major
Chopin, Frédéric, 1810-1849. Scherzos, piano, no. 1, op. 20, B minor
Medtner, Nikolay Karlovich, 1880-1951. Skazki (3)
Rachmaninoff, Sergei, 1873-1943. Preludes, piano, op. 23. No. 6
Rachmaninoff, Sergei, 1873-1943. Preludes, piano, op. 23. No. 2

Encore : A Rachmaninoff Op.32 Prelude or perhaps one of his Etudes Tableaux , 2 others I cant identify , perhaps Medtner or another Russian (?).

Apparently a Hindemith specialist, there is at the Juilliard site another live recital I have not heard in which she plays his 2nd Piano Sonata and “ Ludus Tonalis “ . One of my fav LvB sonatas, and a couple works new to me, dictated my choice of this recital. All very fine , especially the Prokofieff.Technique to toss off the Dohnanyi.

Bach, Johann Sebastian, 1685-1750. Toccatas, harpsichord, BWV 916, G major
Beethoven, Ludwig van, 1770-1827. Sonatas, piano. no. 3, op. 2, no. 3, C major
Poulenc, Francis, 1899-1963. Pastorales, piano, op. 5
Villa-Lobos, Heitor. Três Marias
Prokofiev, Sergey, 1891-1953. Mimoletnosti ( ? It’s several of the “ Visions fugitives.” )
Copland, Aaron, 1900-1990. Scherzo humoristique
Dohnányi, Ernő, 1877-1960. Stücke, piano, op. 2. Capriccio

I did listen to Jane Carlson playing Hindemith's "Ludas Tonalis" today, more interesting work than I had recalled after my first hearing. Hers live at Juilliard in 1951. Per IPAM, Hindemith expressed to her his approval of her interpretation. If I recall, John Ogdon was also an advocate for the work. However, will not be a frequent listen , or purchase, for me.
