Dowland wrote pieces "for two to play upon one lute". Somewhere I saw a painting of an Elizabethan blade, well dressed and elegantly barbered, seated on a chair. A charming and elegant maiden sat on his lap, holding a lute. She played in normal style, he reached around her to do his part. It looked like fun, even though they were wearing way too many clothes.

At my age I have ceased proposing a trial at this to relatively new acquaintances. The elderly dames who might take me up on it...

Wonderful, and ready for prime time! I only wonder why it has
taken so long to popularize four-handed guitar music. Sor wrote
something for one guitar four hands. John Marlow used to play it
with Carole. It is incredible to me that AFAIK there has never
been a one-guitar duo on a concert tour. There is plenty of
potential material.

I should stop whining and get busy writing something four-handed
for beginners... ;-)
