I ended up getting a LoPrinzi Cremona with cedar top. I think it is a
newer model of his and is his "student" model. It is priced less than
the AA80 I believe. It does have laminated sides and back but is
handmade. The quality of construction is flawless! You can really
tell the difference between a mass produced guitar and one that is
handmade. He uses bone for the saddle and nut, which is a nice touch.
The guitar is very easy to play and the intonation was almost
perfect. The Aparicio I had briefly would have had to have a new
saddle made to correct the intonation problems.
The sound of the Cremona is "tight" but I think that will improve over
time. The guitar was probably built just a couple of months ago and
needs time to loosen up. I also have not experimented with different
strings to find the best combination for this guitar.
My only complaint so far is that the bass seems a little weak. That
could be the newness of the guitar and the current strings I am using.
Time will tell.
Overall, I am very pleased with the guitar. It is a very nice
instrument, especially for the price. Being a classical student, it
should serve me for many years.
