In a episode in "Columbo"(tv-show with Peter Falk...), where Columbo should
solve out a crime in London, the name "John Williams" appears on the screen
togehter with all other actors name.

And in the episode, a young man appeared, who actually looked like the
guitarist John Williams.

Can somebody comment on this?

Dont realy know but I can comment on this none the less,

There are a few John Williams into music, but of 2 of them, one does
alot of film score who is different then the classical guitarest

The credits you seen may have been for the music score writer of the
show,

although, it could of been a guest appearence of the classical guitarest
Williams as you thought you saw,

I dont know, but thought Id comment

Well, I do know the difference between the guitarist John Williams and the
movie-music-maker John Williams.

In that episode of Columbo, a young (I guess...) actually looked like the
guitarist John Williams (and not the movie-music-maker John Williams).

As far as I know, the text "John Williams" was not meant as the name for the
composer of the music to the episode.

Did his acting lack emotion, seem robotic?

Well, I do not remember, but I do think I know why you ask about that...

Don't forget that there is/was a VERY famous English actor named John
Williams. It might have simply been him.

He was in ... well, for starters, about a million Hitchcock films, including
"To Catch a Thief" and "Dial M for Murder."

John F is correct - it's the British dude, btw he died in 1983 at 80 so I'm pretty sure he won't get his nose out of joint for the confusion!

I am pretty sure I am this John F, because I have a very vague memory of
this thread from many, many years ago.

What interests me is why something from a thread from many, many years
ago would suddenly pop up now.

Is RMCG haunted by the Ghosts of Threads Past?

It's a virtual version of an abandoned insane asylum. Troubled ghosts haunt the joint at night.

The reason it happens is because it can. The reason it can is because Google Groups makes it possible. It's happening with greater frequency these days. Picking up a thread that's lain dormant for years is fairly easy. Just do a search on GG on your area of interest and then respond as if nothing has happened. How much fun is that?

It's always a good thing to be reminded of the past. I have no doubt that people in the future will be mining the sociological gold of Google Groups.

I think you're right: these groups are an anthropologist's /
