Anyone using Sibelius 6.2 and have Yosemite 10.10? Does the Sibelius work normally? It's unclear from posts I've seen, 7 is supported but 6 isn't.

Andrew, I cannot answer your question but, having much experiece with
Sibelius in many versions and on many platforms, one thing is clear -
Avid is not interested in any version before 7. I think they would tell
you that they won't even both to test it on the latest OS.

I am still using Sib 4 on my Windows XP machine quite merrily, for what
that's worth, and we run version 7.something on Bronwen's MacBook Air.

Sibelius has an excellent support forum - get yourself there and ask
your question directly and you'll likely have an answer within a day,
often much sooner.

I had looked at the support group and there wasn't a clear answer as I mentioned above, that's why I was wondering if anyone here had tried that combination.

Well, because I'm an OCD kind of guy, I posted a message on the SIB
forum earlier today, got a reply, and you are right to be concerned.
From:
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/compatibility/Mac-OS-X-10-10-Yosemite-support-for-Media-Composer-Pro-Tools-Sibelius-EUCON-and-ISIS

The relevant portion to you, Sir Andrew:

--> Sibelius 7.1.3 and 7.5 are supported on Yosemite OS X 10.10.

--> Sibelius 6.2 and earlier are not supported on Yosemite OS X 10.10.

--> Sibelius 6.2, although not fully tested nor supported, it should
work on Yosemite. It will have the same issues with registrations as OS
10.7 and 10.8 as explained here

Yes I saw that. In the phrase, "it should work on Yosemite." the key word was "should".

HOWEVER, having stopped at the word "should" I didn't see the link, which I will attend now.

Thank you!

A post sent yesterday never showed up, must have been distracted and clicked on Discard without seeing it.

I had indeed gone to that same link and it wasn't absolute that it will work, and I'm hearing about other Yosemite problems with various Apps so I'll pass on it for now. Mavericks does everything I need, and I don't need computer problems right now.

Just an impression: All the computers and stuff I have are Apple, except for an Eizo graphics monitor, Brother and Epson printers and an Epson scanner. They work for me. But reading reviews, even on the Apple Store site for the last few years, many products, both hardware and software seem to be pretty buggy when released. Then they get cleaned up or redesigned to work better.

Maybe they keep following the same aggressive release schedules, but without the benefit of Jobs's "reality warping field." It caused the developers to work 36-hour days, 11 days per week as the deadline approached.

I don't buy anything from Apple or upgrade any software until the reviews improve, making me think maybe they have the major bugs fixed.

Yes, that's my plan on this one. And I may have to upgrade to Sibelius 7.5 as well.

The answer is it works fine with Yosemite, bit the bullet and installed it.

Can you be specific? Version 6.2 Sibelius? Or did you bite the bullet and buy the upgrade to 7.5?

Version 6.2. No problems at all, and I've worked on a few pieces already.

I didn't have to do anything to get it to work, had no problems.
