I have a Juan Orozco classical guitar and I was wondering if anyone
knows anything about the quality and sound? It is a 1980 guitar, No.
54-21-278.

It seems to play nicely and has a good sound. However, I have not been
able to find out anything about this luthier. If anyone does know,
please give me some information. Thanks.

Andrew

Hi,

Juan Orozco is the owner of the Aranjuez strings factory in Puerto Rico.

He also manufactures guitars there.

Their Phone # is (787)861-1045

I used to sell those. I recall models 54, 56 and 58. Not much difference
between them except for tuners and body decoration. I believe they were all
solid top, laminated body, rosewood fingerboard dyed black and made in Japan.
I think the selling price was around $250 to $400. These instruments were well
made and some had a very good sound for the times.

Juan Orozco made Aranjuez guitar strings after a family squabble over "Luthier"
strings which his father owned. He located on Spring St. in Greenwich village,
NYC and set up a string making operation, sold guitars and sponsored guitar
concerts. He now resides in Puerto Rico and still makes strings, cases and
sells Artesano guitars made in Valencia, Spain.

That guitar should be a Japanese model, they are now making them in China. I just bought a few guitar cases from him, and they turn out to be rusty. He only gave me a partial refund, because he thinks they are oK -long story. So be careful not to buy anything from this luthier. I think he's not doing very well in the head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii2Gy8kQ8VE Take a look at what Juan Orozco sold me....crazy.
