Hmm. Well, Bill Mallonee plays some harmonica occasionally, in a
Dylan-esque sort of way. I love the harmonica in "Opposite's True,"
from _To The Roof Of The Sky_.

Terry McMillian is THE player everyone calls for sessions in Nashville. He's
played on everything from Smitty ("Hand Of Providence") to Gaither. I know
he has one album available thru Warner Christian Distribution, but it's not
just harmonica solos.

This instrument is really my specialty as well. I've played it along with
blues guitar for many many years. If you privately have some questions you
wish to ask about it, (technique, y'know....stuff!) ..let me know.

The blues is still somewhat under represented in the Christian music scene.
One mentioned here Darrell Mansfield, and he really is without a doubt a
standard for excellence. He plays (blows up) Fender Champ tube amps....8
inch speakers, and prefers to play through two amps in stereo on stage. He
has his own line of microphone that Harmony has developed for him with his
own specific modifications called the "Black Beauty" which after speaking
with him I fully intend to get myself. It has in addition to the crystal
I'm interested in a volume control on the hand set...and an awesome cord
for plugging in.

He plays with some delay and at distortion, and is a master of "flutting"
the high end notes. He's been around the block.....knows the blues...and
plays with great energy. AND.....he loves the Lord !!!! I like the live
blues jam cd's of Cornerstone festivals available through Grrr Records of
the Jesus People in Chicago.....and Larry Howard's blues jams.

There are a number of cd's out there of his stuff, but nothing does him
justice like seeing him live. Do get his stuff though....support his
ministry and the blues!

Now.....let me turn you onto Terry McMillan......hhhmmmm, killer harmonica
stuff as well! He joined up with jazz great Larry Carlton...(also a
brother in the Lord), to produce an awesome blues cd called, "Renegade
Gentleman"......by GRP Records....1993; a must have must get jammin' cd
!!!!!!

Terry works out of Nashville, and has worked with Garth Brooks, Amy Grant,
Ray Charles, Eric Clapton and Chet Atkins. Here is a site that is pushing
a new project cd of his own-
http://www.wbr.com/alliance/terrymcmillan/index.html

Then...you'll hear some satisfying harp blowing on Greg Chaisson's "It's
About Time" which features John Fowler on Lee Oskars. 199 Broken Songs
(ASCAP) A style of what would be called "biker blues"....heavy Les Paul
and Marshalls. Not a real heavy focus on the harp though, but very
satisfying.

have fun.......!!!

About as close as I can get is to suggest you pick up Caedmon's Call's new
album when it comes out in November. There will be a song called
"Thankful" and Cliff and Randy play the harmonica on it. Also, Todd and
Garrett play the trashcan on that song.

Warren Ham (ex Bloodrock/Kansas/AD/Toto/etc) is quite good on the mouth
harp.
