"But when the industry's No. 1 icon of all time (Amy Grant) leaves a
wake of destruction of two families to justify her own illicit
emotional realities"

"Amy Grant is an adulterous whore"
"So let's all go pull an "amy" and screw our husband over and fall in
love with some donut-eating, tractor-driving country music singer. good
grief!"
http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2000/107/54.0.html
"I know firsthand how painful divorce can be. My husband left me to
raise my 2-year old son alone, so that he could pursue an adulterous
relationship. The woman that he left me for also left her husband. This
selfish act destroyed two families, just as Amy's and Vince's did. In
recent articles, Amy seems to be asking the public for understanding
and sympathy, while at the same time she is "watering down" the word of
God by announcing that "God has released her from the marriage." She
continued to pursue a married man, without any regard for the family
that God had created and blessed.
Amy should "take a lot of time" to think about the heartache that
she has caused. Frankly, I am sick of seeing her smiling face in
Christian publications, promoting her latest project. When I see these
pictures today, I cannot do so without thinking of the tears of the
loved ones that she and Vince have hurt. When will the Christian
community stop compromising and start holding those in a position of
ministry accountable?

"Amy Grant seems to have no concept of two of the basic principles of
following Jesus: honesty and love. Her word cannot be trusted even
though it is the most sacred of vows to a husband; and she is ignorant
of the fact that in the Bible, "love" is a verb not a feeling. Why
should anyone believe her word just because it is put to music? She
should read Eccl. 5:4-6. Pity the next fool. Prov. 5:6. Or ... if her
husbands have put her away then 1Cor. 7:10,11. Time out? OK. But during
that time out true repentance is in order. Hard words? Maybe. But they
are words to one who wants to stand up in front of others and lead them
in the way of Christianity. So please don't stone the messenger.

homewrecking husband theif the two don't quite go together."

"Apparently they're not aware that "Christian singer" Amy Grant is also
an adulterous home-wrecker. So much for the sanctity of marriage.
Hypocrites."

The queen-bee of Christian rock is Amy Grant. Amy says,
"Why isolate yourself? Your life isolates you enough. I'm isolated
when I walk into a room and somebody says, She's a Christian and
NOBODY OFFERS ME A JOINT and all the coke (cocaine) disappears. . ."
(Bob Millard, Amy Grant, p. 169)
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:22, "Flee also youthful lusts:", but Amy
says, "Petting happens . . . As a teenager, when I gave part of me to
someone, I knew I was just going to flirt, HAVE A LITTLE FUN, . .
."(Bob Millard, Amy Grant, p. 30)
Amy Grant tells the Ladies Home Journal (Dec. 1985, p. 210),
"It seems to me that people who are most adamantly against premarital
sex have experienced some kind of pain in their own lives. Like the
people who say absolutely no to rock 'n' roll. Chances are it has
something to do with a past sadness..."
Amy's song, "Baby, Baby", was unprecedented in Gospel Music history
topping the chart as the number-one spot on Billboard magazine. People
magazine (July 15, 1991 p.71) says of Amy's video Baby, Baby , "There's
saintly Amy cuddling some hunky guy, crooning "Baby, Baby" into his ear
and looking pretty SLEEK AND SINFUL. . ." After all, Amy confesses,
"I'm trying to look SEXY to sell a record . . ." (Rolling Stone, June
6, 1985 p. 10)
In 1998 Amy left her husband of 16 years, Gary Chapman. Gary literally
got on his knees and begged Amy to stay. In June 1999, Amy divorced
Gary. And quickly, in March 2000, Amy married country star Vince Gill.
In 1996, Vince's wife Janis found a note-"I love you, Amy"-in
his golf bag. (People, Nov. 29, 1999), As early as 1994, Amy told Gary,
". . . I've given my heart to another man." (CCM, January 2000,
p. 36)

"Mrs. Grant is an adulterer. She cheated on her husband and got a
divorce. Apparently she's also the daughter of a minister, and
according to Leviticus 21:19, the daughter of a minister who plays the
whore should be burned to death. Since it is not legal for Christians
or even Jewish people to truly follow their religion in America, Mrs.
Grant is free to roam the earth and shack up with unsaved truck drivers
and country singers like Vince Gill, Brooks and Dunn, or anyone else
who will have her. To say that such a lifestyle is representative of
Christ is absurd. The song "Softly and Tenderly," on her new album,
"Legacy...Hymns and Faith" is obviously referring to sex between her
and and co-adulterer, Vince Gill. True Christian® ears don't want to
hear what you are doing in bed, Amy!"

"At times the woman deep inside me
Wanders far from home,
And in my mind I live a life
That chills me to the bone.
A heart, running for arms out of reach,
But who is the stranger my longing seeks?
I don't know.
But it scares me through and through,
'Cause I've a man at home
Who needs me to be true. . .
Oh, faithless heart,
You tempt me to the core,. . .
God, you know my feelings here
Could wipe my world away,
Ravaging the promises
A stronger heart once made,. . .
- Faithless Heart, Amy Grant (Lead Me On, 1988)
Faithless heart - how true it was. . . "

I'm responding because this is actually a rather good and
interesting interview with Jaci Velasquez, about the difficult
decisions faced by Christians in the secular world,
and especially those who are performers/public figures.
AND to point out that "shark drummer" wants us to THINK that
the quote above was a statement by Jaci, or by the interviewer.
It was NOT said by EITHER. It is not the POV of either.
It is not the POV of the article it was taken from.
The interviewer (Jonathan McKee, founder of "The Source for
Youth Ministry", where this interview with Jaci is published) is
quoting Kevin McCullough of 'Focus on the Family'.
McKee is, actually, exposing Kevin McCullough as over-zealous
and off-the-wall, by showing examples of McCullough's harsh and,
in Jaci's case, outright sleazy attack, in which McCullough
made ugly insinuations about Jaci's mother, because Jaci
has made a secular movie. The remark that McCullough made
about Amy Grant is presented in this article by McKee, as
another example of *undue harshness*.
Clarity is Good.
