"STELLA!"
-Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar...
of rec.music.celtic ( those rmc people )
`a `ecrit things like hispanic women aren't allowed on TNN, esp. Prime
Time Country.
We all know tat they would do backflips to get Linda Ronstadt to
do their little cable show.
I seem to remember a young lady performing more than a year ago,
right before her first date;^).
Jaci Velasquez just might qualify as a hispanic woman. I'll ask
her grandmother, who listens to Jaci's songs on KLYT<www.klyt.org> here
in New Mexico.
I've seen Emilio on PTC, and the Texas Tornadoes, as well.
If STELLA! has a beef with the C&W industry, she shouldn't take
it out on "Host Boy", or "Tejas57" as he is known on the net.
If you want to hear music by hispanic women , Cindy De La Fe (sp?)
is on the rise here in the Albuquerque- Santa Fe area. KLYT has the
salsa-flavored " Tell Me" in regular rotation.

John,
This "Stella" character, if it's who I think it is, is notorious in

Are you familiar with the term "troll" with regard to fishing?

You cast out a line with some stinky bait and slowly drag it towards
you hoping that some fish will bite it. This is known as "trolling."

It's the same thing on newsgroups, you say something you KNOW will
get a reaction out of people, whether its true or not, and laugh at all the
people who respond.

It's a really a low thing to do. It's down there with being
a fan of Debbie Gibson.

The term "troll" is derived from the fishing term: the practice of casting
your line where there is a good chance of catching fish is called trolling.

Similarly, a usenet Troll is "fishing" for replies. He or she will post an
inflammatory article designed to incite a lot of angry responses. (Example:
Posting "100 uses for a dead cat" to rec.pets.cats)
The Troll gets a kind of perverse pleasure out of getting flamed. The best
tactic is to not respond (don't "feed" the troll), or to post a quickie reply
such as "Go Away Troll" to let him/her know you're not interested in playing
his/her little game.
BTW the term "troll" is often used both for the inflammatory post and for the
person who wrote it.

wow. that was harsh. do you know that he purposely didn't have women on
the show because he is prejudiced towards them? how do you know that they
didn't just look for the most talented hispanic bands, and they all just
happened to be composed of men? It was also pretty bold of you to say that
you don't think he will be in heaven. none of us deserve to be in heaven.
not you or me or anyone else, including Gary Chapman. you shouldn't be so
quck to make judgments like that. Christians make mistakes. i don't know
if it was purposeful, or an accident that no women were on the show, but you
can't just go around saying people are going to hell, because you don't make
that decision. GOD does.

He's not a Racist. What was the supposed reason that He was called a
Racist to begin with?
I think the problem is that certain people are just too sensitive, and
take things the wrong way-in other words, some people just have a
persecution complex, and they are looking to be offended.
These types of people need to get over their self-imposed inferiority
complexes, and GROW UP.

What?!? How is he pandering to this supposed racism if performing w/
non-white women isn't against his conviction. His appearance in/on one
place or another doesn't map to "Gary agrees with and condones any all
views/practises/attitudes of the venue (sponsors) at which he appears."
If he panders to it, then he's specifically seeking to overtly promote those
things (e.g., our president seems to pander to anyone who'll give him a
campaign donation).

You just contradicted yourself. First you say that Gary's convictions
(which you seem to assume we think you're privvy to) don't include racist
pandering, then you say he is a racist. Make up your mind.

Umm.....Gary isn't a PTC or TNN member or policy maker. He is not
responsible for stating the positions of his sponsors, whatever they
are. The funny thing here is, I've never heard anyone complain about
this rampant country music TV racism/sexism you claim is there. How
showing us that these groups are specifically looking to disclude
Hispanic women from their programming.

: > Gary claims he's Christian. I don't think Jesus would approve, and I

: > don't think God will allow Gary into Heaven. He will spend eternity

Well, Stella, I don't think you're privvy to the mind of God. If you had
a bit of a clue, you'd check your bible out conerning one's salvation
(which only God truly knows). How fortunate for us that your perceptions
of how things are aren't God's. For someone who has such a lot to say, I
suggest you do a little more research and get some facts to back up your
assertions (which I don't see as supported from any other source).

Now, take some tine to pray and ask God what the real use of your
attempted defamation of a good man and Christian is. Ask God if this is
the Christian act He'd have you do.

Yeah seriously. Country music is pretty much inherently American. I don't
see American racism in country music; I do see American *heritage* in
country music.

I also like the eighties. *coughs* *looks around* Oh, come on, someone

Ahem. :-) My fondness for Ms. Gibson is recorded on video for the world
to see-you can see me in the crowd in the _Electric Youth_ Tour concert
video, which was at least partially shot in Atlanta. :-)

Hot dog! I got another one! This trolling business is fun!

Actually, I'm rather neutral with regard to Ms. Gibson, but I
knew I could get a couple bites if I threw out that line. >;-)

Hmmm... not even a nibble. Water must be polluted or something.

But trolls *like* dirty water. Maybe it's too clean. Or maybe it *thinks*
it's clean, on its own merits (delusional water, with pride in its so-
called "perfection").

Well, there is some redeeming quality to listening to Yes. You're

Well, if you were alive during the Eighties, you should know about her. If
I ever had a crush on a teenage star...it was Debbie Gibson. Blonde.
Great voice. Cool songs. She had a couple of videos on MTV (back when
they played videos). I may have a tape you could...oh, crap...my
tape...these things just don't last like they used to. Hey, Jerry. Can
you still find a CD of Debbie Gibson's stuff? Local WalMart or Hastings
didn't have anything here.

Most actual music stores still have her stuff (typically in the bargain
bins-not the closeouts, but the $10 CD bins).

She's an indie now, so you'd have to look a little harder...

But she's gotten so sexy with her image now that she did the annual AIDS
striptease benefit in New York City a couple of weeks ago. (She'll hear from
me on that one or that's the end of any association between us...)

Makes me wonder if he was the one who got the security people to be around
that Dick Van Patten lookalike who was having _NO FUN_ there...

(You'd have to see the video to get the ref...)

True, but I didn't have any problem finding her newest one at Best Buy,
so she's apparently got pretty good distribution. :-)

Heck, I've SEEN the video and didn't get the ref. :-) (It's been a while...)
