I used to be looking for punk Christian music...Crashdog is a JOKE. They
sound like some people who've never listened to real punk in their entire
life, and who really TRY to sound like punk, but fall flat on their face.
They just sound like total posers. I don't mean to be mean to them, but
it's just that I bought their last album cause I read that it was really
good punk, but it stinks. I mean bad. I mean VERY bad. I wish people
would stop reccommending Crashdog to people who are into punk, because
this is generally not what they are looking for.

Try Nobody Special, who does a great cover of What's the Buzz (He's Ojo
Taylor's brother). Try also anything on Tooth and Nail Records, 92 Corp.
Park, C-650, Irvine, CA, 92714.
Your bro' in the Great White North.

I think you may be the person who has never listened to real punk
in your entire life. Have you ever heard of Circle Jerks? Or DRI? OR
how about any other old style punk rock band? Now I'm no old punk fogie
(I'm 18), but I can definately appreciate punk's roots. I am willing to
stake my reputation as a punk rock conneseur by saying that Crashdog is
good.

Did you take the time to hear the song "question stupidity"? I
think it is the best track on that album. Or how bout "pursuit of
happiness" off the album of the same name. These 2 songs I would say are
the closest thing in Christian music to the Sex Pistols. Ever hear of
those guys? The fathers of punk rock, some may say.
I wish people would stop reccommending Crashdog to people who are into
punk, because : this is generally not what they are looking for.
You mean, "this is not what YOU, Ara, are looking for." That may
be the case, I can totally understand that. I have had more than my
share of disgust with Christian music. But I keep praying about it, and
I keep finding new styles or bands that I can dig and that glorify my
God.
You may not like the old style punk rock. Have you tried newer
bands like The Blamed, who definately have punk rock influence on their
album "21". (Regretfully, I understand that their next album will be
more hardcore, and less PUNK.) Or, there is a band coming out soon on
Tooth and Nail called Magnified Plaid. My friend saw them in portland
and said they sound like Screeching Weasel. I don't know about you, but
when I heard that I darn near broke out into the Ed Lover dance. Look
forward to that one. Or have you looked into the Christian underground
scene? My friend has a little record company called Boot to Head
Records, and he has some of the coolest stuff, in styles that you have
never heard Christian music before. Dude, search hard enough and you can
find it. Or, if you are that disgusted with the scene, write me back and
I'll give you a hand.
I guess my point is that it is not right to say that Crashdog is
not punk just because you don't like that particular style of punk.
What if some old guy (or young guy. whatever) is looking for Circle
Jerk style punk rock and they are fully turned off to Crashdog because of
your comments before ever hearing the band? I don't want to see that
happen. This may sound liberal or something, but KEEP AN OPEN MIND.
Especially about music.
Give me a holler back or something.
In Christ,
Slim Jim
>I thought that they only put out ONE cd, call it what you want...
I think they only did have one CD but they also had one tape called
'Pat Nobody'. If anyone knows if 'Pat Nobody' was ever released on
CD please tell me. Maby someday someone will re-release it on CD
I wrote them a letter a year or more ago asking what happened but I never
got a response

Uh, I don't like Crashdog at all, either... How about The Blamed or The
Clergy? I haven't heard The Clergy, but The Blamed are actually kind of
cool... Are these acceptable?
